Thornholme Field WIND FARM

The Wind Farm

When we first started looking at wind turbine layouts for Thornholme Field Wind Farm, there were 12 turbines. Since initially identifying the site, we have undertaken some detailed environmental surveys and, with more detailed information about constraints, have now been able to produce a more detailed site design.

The proposal as submitted is for 9 turbines, as shown on the map below. Turbines would have a maximum height to tip of 110 metres.

The main factors involved in this design have been: landscape and visual (to reduce landscape and visual impact, we removed 3 turbines at the north end of the site), keeping a suitable distance from the public paths and power lines running through the site and keeping a suitable distance from houses. In this current design, the closest houses to any wind turbines are in Haisthorpe and Thornholme and are 900 metres away.

The map below shows the proposed locations of each wind turbine. This final site design is a result of detailed environmental studies and consultation with East Riding of Yorkshire Council, statutory consultees and local residents.
