Studies are required to assess the potential impact of the proposed wind farm.
A number of specialist consultants as well as members of the Wind Prospect team will compile the results of these studies, which will then be submitted alongside the planning application. These studies will include:
- landscape and visual impact
- ecology (birds, bats, etc)
- cultural heritage and archaeology
- noise
- access arrangements
Landscape and visual impact assessment : 7th Jun 2010
Independent consultants have been appointed to undertake a full landscape and visual impact assessment. We are currently agreeing viewpoints with East Riding of Yorkshire Council, as well as English Heritage and Natural England. These viewpoints will then be used to form the basis of photomontage pictures which will be used as tools to assist the assessment.
Ecology and ornithology surveys : 1st Feb 2010
Surveys to gather data for the ecology assessment have been underway for a while now, by independent ecologists.
A phase 1 survey was carried out early in 2010, which recommended several protected species surveys: bat, badger, otter, water vole and white-clawed crayfish. A hedgerow survey has also been carried out.
Bird data is also currently being collected by independent ornithologists to ensure that we have a full 12 months survey data.
The information from all these surveys will be used to carry out an impact assessment for the proposed wind farm.
Initial feasibility studies : 1st Feb 2009
In February 2009, the first initial feasibility studies on landscape and visual impact, access, ecology and cultural heritage commenced. Further detailed of studies carried out as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment will be provided here shortly.
